We are always uplifted by following some purpose that makes others and ourselves happy. Eastern Religions seek God in all aspects of life (SEEKERS), whilst Western Religions insist on a single deity (FOLLOWERS). They all seek to find a higher power to solve their problems.
I have experienced a combination of Hinduism with a Unity Prayer, useful in its broad approach to a purposeful living. The prayer is called the prayer of protection: each line is compared with the famous Hindu Prayer
“OM, TWAMEVA MATA, CHA PITA TWAMEVA, TWAMEVA BANDHU CHA SAKHA TWAMEVA, TWAMEVA VIDYA DRAVINAM TWAMEVA, TWAMEVA SARVAM MAMA DEVA DEVA”
-The Vedas
The meaning will be revealed after each of the lines of the Prayer of Protection.
“THE LIGHT OF GOD SURROUNDS US“ [my visualization : BY YOUR GRACE, O LORD RAAM, YOU STAND BEFORE THE OPPONENTS, CALMLY SMILING AND PRAYING, LIFT THE SHIVA DHANUSH (BOW), AND BEFORE BREAKING IT, YOU SHOOT AN IMAGINARY ARROW WITH A SUDARSHAN CHAKRA, WITH A BRIGHT LIGHT AROUND US, REMOVING ALL DIFFICULTIES]. This removes all disharmony from our minds. COMPARED WITH TWAMEVA MATA, etc. THOU ART OUR MOTHER, FATHER, FAMILY & FRIEND TO TAKE CARE OF ALL OUR PROBLEMS & DISHARMONY.
“THE LOVE OF GOD ENFOLDS US“ [my visualization: YOU, MOTHER SEETA, PLACING THE GARLAND AROUND LORD RAAM’S NECK]. All our Anxieties and Depression are removed. COMPARED WITH – TWAMEVA SARVAM, etc. THOU ART OUR EVERYTHING, DEAR LORD. You make us happy in all ways.
“THE POWER OF GOD PROTECTS US“ [my visualization: YOU AS HANUMAAN HAVE THE POWER AND WISDOM TO OVERCOME ALL WEAKNESSES. YOU PROTECT OUR HEALTH] COMPARED WITH: TWAMEVA VIDYAA – THOU ART OUR KNOWLEDGE to GOOD HEALTH THROUGH MEDICAL AND OTHER SCIENCES.
“THE PRESENCE OF GOD WATCHES OVER US“ [my visualization: YOU ARE AS OUR PARENTS MOTHER AND FATHER WHO PROVIDED FOR OUR UPBRINGING AND EDUCATION] COMPARED WITH: DRAVINAM TWAMEVA – YOU ARE OUR WEALTH O LORD.
This prayer becomes like a MANTRA, to overcome the four stresses facing all mankind: DISHARMONY, ANXIETIES, HEALTH AND FINANCIAL STRESSES. Our Purpose is fulfilled when we make ourselves Spiritually happy, then we can be in a better position to help the world. After removing the Beam from our eyes, we can see the light to remove the Speck of dust from the eyes of others, so they can help themselves.
